Christian Ruiz Berman’s work is characterized by a visual exploration of duality, balance, and paradox, drawing influence from Taoism and its concept of yin-yang interdependence, as well as Kabbalistic diagrams such as the Tree of Life, which employ symbolic geometry to suggest a cosmic order. His compositions establish precise architectural divisions where geometric elements, architectural artifacts, animals, and natural landscapes coexist, evoking a collective imaginary that transcends time and space.
His latest exhibition at Proyectos Monclova, Tzimtzum, presents a new body of work in which the artist explores the power of shared symbols and cosmic archetypes. Through a fusion of references—including architecture, fauna, remnants of the past, and contemporary elements—his paintings seek to connect with viewers beyond notions of identity and cultural heritage. Some pieces address the material legacy of Mexico’s Indigenous peoples, proposing a dialogue between different historical periods and revealing unexpected points of convergence. Visually, his work takes influence from Taoist art, where harmony with the landscape becomes a reflection of the elusive nature of the Tao.
Ruiz Berman reflects on the ability of the ancient to preserve its essence in a world dominated by contemporary technology. Through meticulous compositions and a dreamlike logic, his works generate a unified visual field where disparate elements find unexpected connections.
