Fictions in construction: from photography to sculpture

Lateral presents the conversation around the exhibition Fictions under construction: from photography to sculpture; where the artist Anna Berenice Garner and the writer Janila Castañeda participate.

In this talk Janila Castañeda and Anna Berenice Garner will talk about the exhibition Topographies and other fictions that is currently being presented at Lateral. They will delve into themes from the exhibition including the body, landscape, and methods of undoing and remaking physical spaces through photography. Using Garner's works as a starting point, the talk will focus on issues of the role of the image in constructions of truth, investigating how the relationship between sculpture and photography opens up potential to reconsider the relationships of two and three dimensions, of fiction and the reality of an image.
