Amanda Ziemele

Saenger Galería, in collaboration with Centro de Arte Limantour, presents With a Pinch of Salt by Amanda Ziemele.

Amanda maintains that inspiration can come from anywhere; accordingly, her work transforms painting into a spatial and immersive experience that is not limited to the exclusive use of walls but also extends to doorways and windows, as well as ceilings and floors. With this premise, Ziemele’s pictorial exercise holds the potential to transform “a cave into a chapel,” in the words of Peter Zumthor. In this sense, Amanda Ziemele’s pictorial installations inhabit spaces, her works becoming guests that occur, transform, and coexist with the sites where they are housed. At the same time, this exhibition operates as an artistic residency of research and production for Ziemele in Mexico, opening a dialogue between an exponent of contemporary art from Eastern Europe and the historic Porfirian mansion of eclectic style that hosts the project—thus constituting yet another chapter in the artist’s trajectory and in the history of the place.
