After Eden

Galería RGR opens After Eden, a group show curated by Gabriela Rangel that inquires about the notion of landscape that remains “after paradise.” Through a selection of works using painting, photography, sculpture, or sound as an expressive medium, the exhibit offers an aesthetic and epistemic tour through the outlines that landscape has acquired in contemporary art practices. In the context of a world devastated by environmental disaster and the destructive forces of progress, the notion of landscape that emerges from these works doesn’t seem to refer to aesthetic contemplation and spiritual plenitude, but rather to uncertainty and chaos. Even if, occasionally, it can also produce a disturbing beauty.
