Museum
The Centro Cultural de España en México (CCEMx) opened its doors in 2012 and is located in a 17th century mansion in the Centro Histórico, behind the Catedral Metropolitan. This institution part of the Agencia española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) is a platform for cultural promotion and cooperation that presents Spanish art, culture, creative industries and science. Since 2011, the CCEMx has new facilities, located in a building with entrance at Donceles 97 connected with the original one, which include a large exhibition space and the a Templo Mayor site museum. The CCEMx offers a totally free program. Through Project 1, it organizes individual exhibitions of Spanish artists living in Mexico, with the aim of promoting their work and connecting non-specialized audiences with contemporary art through parallel activities. The artists who show at Program 1 are born between the 70s and the 90s, and always work with a guest resident curator, in order to foster collaboration with the local scene.
