Juan Rodrigo Llaguno

Juan Rodrigo Llaguno has developed his work as a portrait photographer for more than 30 years. His different projects focus on the contemporary record of society through the act of photographic portraiture. He has been a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte and was twice awarded the FONCA grant for young creators. He has held solo exhibitions at the Museo de Monterrey, Galería OMR, Canal de Isabel II in Madrid, Galería Ramis Barquet, Museo de Arte de Zapopan, and Museo de Historia Mexicana, among others. In May 2023, he presented his retrospective Retratos de 30 Años at the Fototeca CONARTE. In 2024, he participated in the exhibition Nuevo León: El Futuro no está Escrito at Museo MARCO. His work has been published in books including 160 años de fotografía en México. In 2010, CONARTE published his book El Parque. In 2013, he was included in Mexican Portraits published by Aperture, and he was selected for the XI FEMSA Biennial. In 2022, the Spanish magazine EXIT Imagen y Cultura dedicated a portfolio to his work. He has photographed leading figures such as Octavio Paz, Leonora Carrington, Fernando Botero, Juan Soriano, Gabriel Orozco, Julio Galán, Philip Glass, Julian Schnabel, among many others. His work is part of several collections, including those of Fundación FEMSA, The University of Arizona CCP, Fundación Televisa, Art Museum of South Texas, Arizona State University Art Museum, Fototeca Nacional, and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City, among others.
