This month, Arte Expuesto presents the work of Jesus Malaventura on the city's panoramic screens.
Desert plants build defense mechanisms against the arid environment that surrounds them. They respond to their violent context with an equal violence.
Aren't cities deserts? With this work I explore the idea of vulnerability, with a desire to reject the same defense mechanisms that I have built to survive in this city.
I deny my own “thorns” as my own and accept them as a consequence of my desire to belong.
This work is part of a project that plans to display reproductions of the work in public spaces in the city, accessible to everyone and made of plaster, a material that can be affected by the pass of time.
The aim is to document the vulnerability of the works over time.
