Espacio Impermanente and MADE present the exhibition by André “Garra”: Hay mucho dolor allá afuera, as part of the project Salón 4307.

Where to find the strength to celebrate a rejected body? Perhaps there will not be a concrete answer, but sexual dissidence seems to have answered it a long time ago. From an exercise of self-love is born that aspirational gesture that celebrates them, known as “bewitching”. Of multiple meanings and indeterminate origins, “bewitching” can be as much the conjuring of an “outfit” as it can be the enchantment of an audience, as it can be the manifestation through action. From the performativity of gender, to professional desire and socioeconomic position, dissidence, rather than dreaming, carves out a space where it is not welcome, challenging paradigms and threatening hegemony.

“There's a lot of pain out there” is the first solo exhibition of artist André ‘Garra’ which visually explores the elements of ‘bewitching’ through glitter, lights and hair. All of the pieces originate from a photographic archive he has been developing for more than three years of the balls of the ballroom scene in Monterrey.
