N-tramados
Exhibition
-> Dec 14 2024 – Dec 15 2024
Yo Studio presents N-TRAMADOS, an exhibition by Aidel Trujillo that explores the complex layers of gender identity and visual expression through clothing.
Clothing, rather than being a necessity, has become a symbol and a tool, allowing us to express ourselves as individuals while accompanying us through changes; however, it has also been used as a way to reinforce conceptions of “what” and “how” we should be. Artist Aidel Trujillo shows the exploration of these panoramas through a subversive approach, navigating questions about gender and identity, bringing us closer to his memories to see the influence of the family environment and our relationship with it during our transformation.
Using textiles and fashion in his works, the artist brings us closer to everyday elements such as clothing to question us about the precepts under which gender is constructed. The binary framework is dismantled, revealing those who make their own identity; allowing us to contemplate how they are intertwined with family ties, their complexity and uncertainty in the face of change, leading us to reflect on the value of the memories we have about our relationships and how we are perceived.
Trujillo's provocative, human and fresh look confronts us to question our system as well as our operation within it; spinning each other, forming our environments and evolving together, looking beyond the bodies and how we dress them, outside the " must be ”, exploring what makes us who we are.
The exhibition will be open to the public on December 14 and 15, and all those interested in contemporary art and people belonging to the trans and non-binary community of Monterrey are invited to visit this exhibition.
