EstaciónMAZ presents Food Chain, Poetics In Common, Tijuana—Guadalajara, a collective recipe exchange between people from Tijuana, Baja California, and Guadalajara, Jalisco, during the pandemic in 2020. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Tijuana Ministry of Culture and curator Olga Margarita Dávila, as an alternative to the exhibition MU UJE EER by artist Mónica Leyva at the Baja California Institute of Culture (ICBC) Gallery, which was closed to the public due to the pandemic on March 6, 2020. The project is also a book published in 2021 (50 copies by Palacio de la Fatalidad) containing poems, recipe drawings, ideas, and situations surrounding the online exchanges between participants through WhatsApp messages, Facebook, email, and phone calls. Mónica Leyva is an artist and holds a degree in Communication Sciences from ITESO. Her foray into art began by accident in London, where, as a scholarship student, she discovered embroidery, inspired by a replica of her grandmother's knitting machine. Self-taught and multidisciplinary, Mónica combines local traditions and contemporary practices. Her work is featured in public and private collections and has been recognized for its impact and originality.
